Business Services Manager

The opportunity

We have an opportunity for an experienced Business Services professional to take on a newly developed role that will contribute to our accomplished team reaching new heights. 

This is a broad, hands-on role with genuine influence across the organisation.

The role:

Potentially encompassing a broad range of key responsibilities, but with financial oversight essential, the position will be tailored to the successful candidate.  This will be dependent on professional background, experience and key areas of interest. 

Core responsibilities:

  • Finance, overseeing:
    • strengthening commercial discipline and financial visibility
    • project finance including estimates, budget and expenses tracking, profit analysis, invoicing and debtor management, alongside project managers
    • company budgeting, forecasting, capacity planning and profitability analysis and optimisation
    • payroll, salaries, financial KPIs and remuneration
    • bookkeeping
    • tax matters and liaison with company accountants
  • Support for project delivery
  • Business operational and strategic planning 
  • Operational performance improvements

Optional responsibilities across at least one of the following key functions:

  • Project management
  • Human resources
  • Legal, compliance and contracts
  • Proposals, business development and client relationship management
  • Management Systems coordination
  • IT, equipment, facilities and supplier management

About you

You are commercially minded, organised and calm under pressure.  You enjoy bringing structure, clarity and momentum to growing businesses.

You are likely to have experience in:

  • consulting
  • engineering
  • environmental services
  • technical professional services
  • scientific organisations
  • or project-based businesses.

Most importantly, you understand how to work effectively with highly skilled technical professionals while still driving accountability and commercial outcomes.

To be considered for this role, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • A diploma or degree in Business Administration or similar
  • 5+ years’ experience in operations, business management or commercial leadership
  • Strong financial and operational management capability
  • Experience in professional services or project-based environments
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • High emotional intelligence and strong organisational ability
  • Experience improving systems, reporting and operational processes

Experience within environmental, engineering or scientific consulting will be highly regarded.

You must be an Australian citizen or hold a permanent work visa to be considered for this role.
