Rehabilitating Roe 8 (City of Cockburn & Main Roads), Rehabilitation Monitoring (annually since 2020)

Cockburn

Since 2020, Rehabilitating Roe 8 (as part of the City of Cockburn, funded by Main Roads) have undertaken the annual monitoring of approximately 18 hectares rehabilitation in the Roe 8 corridor, in the localities of Bibra Lake, North Lake, Coolbellup and Hamilton Hill.  Monitoring of the rehabilitation is guided by the objectives of the Rehabilitating Roe 8 Rehabilitation Management Plan (RMP), and was initially conducted in 2017, 2018 and 2019 by Murdoch University staff and students, led by Dr Rachel Standish.

Following the initial monitoring, the services of a suitably qualified environmental consultant were sought to continue the monitoring and reporting, and FVC was initially engaged in 2020.  Following this, we have continued the monitoring each year, with the reporting for the fifth annual event in spring 2024 recently completed.

The RMP is an adaptive management plan, and FVC has played an important role in providing recommendations for ongoing improvements to the rehabilitation via remediation actions, and to optimisation of the monitoring program.  Our continuing involvement in the project year after year is another illustration of the relationships we build with our clients, who trust our team to deliver their projects in an ongoing capacity.
