Botanical Taxonomist
The opportunity
We have an opportunity for an experienced flora taxonomist to join our Biological team.
FVC’s highly-regarded Biological team includes botanists, zoologists and ecologists who specialise in biological assessments and monitoring.
The role:
- A dedicated focus on the identification of collected Western Australian flora specimens
- Management of the collections and in-house herbarium/laboratory space and reference materials
- Co-ordination of sub-consultant taxonomists
- Broader contributions to botanical and ecological projects, optionally including:
- Project management
- Study planning
- Field HSE planning
- Field surveys, including in remote and exciting locations
- Data management
- Floristic and statistical analysis
- GIS mapping
- Technical reporting of biological assessments and monitoring desktop and field results
- Report technical review
About you
To be considered for this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
- Bachelor degree (minimum) in botany, ecology, biological science, environmental science or equivalent
- 2+ years’ relevant experience (in flora identifications, preferably in Western Australia)
- current Western Australian C-class driver’s licence
- excellent verbal and written communication skills
- a proactive attitude and commitment to delivering exceptional results in a team-focused environment
You must be an Australian citizen or hold a permanent work visa to be considered for this role.
