At FVC, our commitment to delivering practical, science-based solutions is driven by the strength of our people. At the core of this is our Environmental Assessment and Management (EAM) Team, a multidisciplinary group of environmental professionals who play a crucial role in shaping sustainable outcomes for our clients and communities.
Who We Are
The EAM team at FVC is made up of passionate environmental scientists, EIA practitioners, and regulatory specialists. Working across Australia, particularly in Western Australia’s unique and complex environmental landscape, the team brings together decades of combined experience in applied environmental science and approvals strategy.
Whether navigating regulatory pathways, planning biodiversity offsets, or conducting detailed environmental impact assessments, the EAM team operates with integrity, technical rigour and a deep respect for the environment.
Our Point of Difference
FVC’s EAM team has a unique advantage that enhances our ability to provide tailored advice for environmental assessment and management projects. Our in-house colleagues are specialists Ecologists, Botanists and Zoologists, available to directly contribute their expertise to scopes of work, for best possible outcomes for our clients, their projects and the environment.
What We Do
The EAM team provides end-to-end support for projects requiring environmental approvals, assessments, and ongoing environmental management. Our work often bridges the gap between scientific understanding, community expectations and regulatory requirements. Here’s a closer look at what we do:
- Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
We lead and deliver Environmental Impact Assessments under both State and Commonwealth legislation, including:
- Environmental Protection Act 1986 (WA)
- Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act)
Our team prepares comprehensive documentation to support referral, assessment, and approval processes – such as Environmental Review Documents (ERDs), Public Environmental Review (PER) reports, and Native Vegetation Clearing Permits (NVCP). We are experienced in working with regulators such as the EPA, DWER, and DCCEEW, helping clients navigate complex statutory pathways efficiently.
- Environmental Planning and Approvals
From concept to compliance, the EAM team:
- Develops approvals strategies aligned with project timelines and risk profiles
- Prepares and lodges Section 38 referrals, EPBC referrals, and Native Vegetation Clearing Permits
- Coordinates input from technical disciplines to support streamlined approval outcomes
We also advise on the integration of environmental constraints into land use planning, infrastructure design and natural resource management.
- Offset Planning and Ecological Assessment
The team delivers offset strategies and site selection assessments to meet regulatory offset requirements. This includes:
- Quantifying residual impacts using tools such as the WA Environmental Offsets Calculator and EPBC Offset Assessment Guide
- Identifying and assessing potential offset sites for suitability and conservation value
- Developing and implementing offset management plans
Our offset work is underpinned by in-house ecological expertise and a sound understanding of WA’s environmental policy framework.
- Biodiversity and Conservation Strategy
We support local governments and landowners with:
- Local Biodiversity Strategies
- Conservation Management Plans
Our EAM team contributes to the identification, protection and enhancement of areas with high ecological and cultural value, including biodiversity hotspots and ecological linkages.
- Environmental Management and Monitoring
Once approvals are in place, the EAM team supports clients with:
- Environmental Management Plans (EMPs)
- Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs)
- Environmental Monitoring Programs
- Compliance reporting and auditing
We ensure that environmental conditions and commitments are translated into practical, effective, on-ground actions.
- Stakeholder and Regulator Engagement
Effective engagement is key to success in the environmental space. The EAM team regularly liaises with:
- Government agencies and regulators
- Industry stakeholders and community groups
Our team values clear, respectful and solutions-oriented communication throughout the life of every project.
A Practical, Values-Driven Approach
At FVC, we’re proud of the practical, science-based and values-led approach that our EAM team brings to every project. We strive to uphold our values of Integrity, Quality, and Team, ensuring that we not only meet regulatory expectations but genuinely contribute to better environmental and social outcomes.
Together, let’s shape practical solutions that better our world, for today and for generations to come.
