Senior–Principal Zoologist/Team Leader

The opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Senior to Principal level Zoologist to join our Biological team, to lead and grow the growing Zoology team. 

Our highly-regarded Biological team includes botanists, zoologists and ecologist who specialise in biological assessments and monitoring.

The role:

  • Lead and grow the emerging, specialist Zoology team
  • Lead and contribute to zoological and ecological projects
  • Project management and team leadership
  • Identifying and pursuing project opportunities
  • Study scoping and design
  • Leading field surveys, including in remote and exciting locations
  • GIS mapping and related spatial data management
  • Technical reporting of biological assessments and monitoring; desktop and field results
  • Report technical review
  • Aid in maintaining and strengthening client relationships
  • Collaborate with technical specialists in our Botany and Environmental Assessment and Management teams
  • Play a vital role in developing and navigating strategic pathways of the business

About you

To be considered for this role, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Bachelor degree (minimum) in zoology, ecology, biological science, environmental science or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ relevant experience (in fauna assessments, preferably in Western Australia)
  • proven familiarity with current Technical Guidance for fauna surveys
  • a desire to take on the challenge of helping to shape an emerging technical team 
  • the ability to lead and manage teams and consulting projects
  • willingness to travel for field assessments, including to remote locations
  • experience in the preparation of technical biological assessment reports
  • current Western Australian C-class driver’s licence
  • proven experience in managing client relationships
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • a proactive attitude and commitment to delivering exceptional results in a team-focused environment
