Senior–Principal Zoologist/Team Leader
The opportunity
We have an opportunity for a Senior to Principal level Zoologist to join our Biological team, to lead and grow the growing Zoology team.
Our highly-regarded Biological team includes botanists, zoologists and ecologist who specialise in biological assessments and monitoring.
The role:
- Lead and grow the emerging, specialist Zoology team
- Lead and contribute to zoological and ecological projects
- Project management and team leadership
- Identifying and pursuing project opportunities
- Study scoping and design
- Leading field surveys, including in remote and exciting locations
- GIS mapping and related spatial data management
- Technical reporting of biological assessments and monitoring; desktop and field results
- Report technical review
- Aid in maintaining and strengthening client relationships
- Collaborate with technical specialists in our Botany and Environmental Assessment and Management teams
- Play a vital role in developing and navigating strategic pathways of the business
About you
To be considered for this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
- Bachelor degree (minimum) in zoology, ecology, biological science, environmental science or equivalent
- 5+ years’ relevant experience (in fauna assessments, preferably in Western Australia)
- proven familiarity with current Technical Guidance for fauna surveys
- a desire to take on the challenge of helping to shape an emerging technical team
- the ability to lead and manage teams and consulting projects
- willingness to travel for field assessments, including to remote locations
- experience in the preparation of technical biological assessment reports
- current Western Australian C-class driver’s licence
- proven experience in managing client relationships
- excellent verbal and written communication skills
- a proactive attitude and commitment to delivering exceptional results in a team-focused environment
