Harvey Water Pty Ltd, Pinjarra Pipeline Extension, Preliminary EIA and Biological Assessments (2024)

Pinjarra

Harvey Water Pty Ltd is proposing to extend its irrigation water supply network north to Pinjarra.  As part of the project’s initial feasibility assessment, Harvey Water engaged FVC to undertake a Preliminary Environmental Impact Assessment (PEIA) to identify any potentially significant environmental constraints along the proposed alignment.  FVC conducted a comprehensive desktop assessment, reviewing existing datasets and environmental records to highlight key constraints.  This was supported by targeted ground-truthing to verify desktop findings and better understand site-specific conditions.

As an extension to the base PEIA scope of work, FVC was also commissioned to undertake a full biological assessment incorporating flora, vegetation, fauna and habitats, to better inform the impact assessment, route selection and impact mitigation.

While some areas of significant environmental value were identified within the corridor, the site inspection confirmed that these could largely be avoided through thoughtful design.  FVC delivered a robust, constraints-led PEIA that enabled Harvey Water to refine the pipeline alignment, identify key environmental approval requirements, and reduce potential ecological and cultural impacts.  The PEIA provided a strong foundation for future targeted flora and fauna surveys, should they be necessary, and more detailed environmental impact assessments.
