Wiluna Mining, Lake Way, Ecological Monitoring (2016 & annually 2019-2024)

Lake Way

Wiluna Mining is operating a number of gold mining projects in the vicinity of Wiluna and Lake Way, Western Australia.  A condition of the mining licence is to undertake annual ecological monitoring of the ecosystem of Lake Way, to ensure no detrimental effects from the discharge of mine dewater into the lake.

FVC was originally engaged to prepare an Ecological Monitoring Plan, which includes monitoring of riparian lake vegetation, benthic microalgae (diatoms) and aquatic invertebrates, and was approved by regulatory authorities.  In collaboration with Bennelongia Environmental Consultants, the baseline monitoring event was then completed in 2016.  Following the commencement of dewatering in July 2019, the annual ecological monitoring commenced in October 2019 and has been carried out annually since, including most recently in 2024.

The Lake Way annual ecological monitoring is another example of a long-term project that FVC is engaged to completed time after time, based on a trusted relationship with our client, who know they can count on us to deliver each and every time.
